Town of Cary
In January 2017, the Town of Cary launched its new website. I served as project manager for the overhaul, gathering requirements, drafting the requests for proposals, coordinating the selection committee and maintaining the project timeline. More than just a design refresh, this project entailed a migration of more than 30,000 assets into a new, more robust content management system.
In 2019, I worked with our vendor and in-house graphic designer to refresh the look and feel. The new homepage responded to our usage data, centering search as a navigation tool and making it easier for users to get to the most popular sections of the site.
Education Writers Association
In 2013-14, I served as project manager for EWA’s site migration and redesign. Prior to the overhaul, the site had been a major headache, almost hostile to user and administrator alike. Remaking the site in Drupal allowed us to create, deploy and organize content in a variety of ways, and gave us exponentially more control over the look and feel.
EdMedia Commons
EdMedia Commons was EWA’s members-only community platform, featuring discussion boards, blogs, and various other social features. It launched in mid-2011 and was folded into the main website in 2014.

Story Starters
Story Starters was launched in June 2012. The microsite, built in ExpressionEngine, was conceived as a one-stop shop for reporters researching any one of more than two dozen topics. It housed content-area overviews, links to key coverage, relevant reports, and lists of expert sources. All of these features and more can now be found at EWA.org/topics. You can view an archived version of this site here (with limited functionality).
